After a small delay, 1st Ince and Elton Scout Troop finally celebrated their first year of opening in style on Saturday 5th November as they headed up to Blackpool for the day.
After an hour and a half journey with Scouts saying “are we there yet?” (at least in one of the cars), we arrived at Blackpool and headed to the Tram Stop, where we waited, waited, and waited a bit more to board a tram to the Pleasure Beach.
Unfortunately we hadn’t anticipated how busy the trams were going to be (especially as 5th November was the final day the vintage trams were running as Blackpool Transport were decommissioning them), so we had to start our journey to Pleasure Beach by foot.
After half an hour of walking, and further down the Beach Front, we were lucky enough to find an empty enough tram heading to the Pleasure Beach, so we finally got that Blackpool Tram experience (which suffice to say, the Scouts really enjoyed).
At midday we arrived at the Pleasure Beach, although before heading in we had loads of hungry Scouts so we decided to have lunch before going in.
Once in the park we decided to split into two groups and head our various ways around the park. Scouts enjoyed rides including the Tango Ice Blast, Valhalla, Avalanche amongst others. Most Scouts were even brave enough to go on the Pepsi Max Big One – twice!!! And not forgetting Infusion!
At 17:30 we regrouped and assembled in the centre of the park and in true Scouts style – invested an unsuspecting Elliott and Max into the group (which started gathering quite an audience). After we invested Max and Elliott we were given a shout out by Holiday Rock FM to the cheer of our Scouts as we were leaving the park.
Once we left the park we walked through the lights, stopping off halfway for a traditional Fish and Chips supper before continuing our journey through the illuminations. Although our continued journey had numerous stops as Scouts purchased (some more than one) hi-vis orange hats!
Scouts enjoyed the day and we were all impressed with how well behaved they all were – a true credit to the troop (and group). Thankfully the journey home was a lot quieter as most Scouts fell asleep!!!
