On the evening of 11th February 2011, the Cubs and Scouts of 1st Ince and Elton descended on the Hideaway building at Queen Charlotte’s Wood for a group ‘holiday’.
The theme of the weekend for the Cubs was I’m a Cub Scout, Get Me Out Of Here! with Cubs taking part in various bushtucker trials and activities.
Scouts spent most of the weekend enhancing their camping skills and preparing for the Cheshire Hike that take’s place in April. However they spent some time on the Climbing Wall (as did the Cubs) which we had for the day on Saturday. On the Sunday, our Scouts did very well in completing an 11 mile hike from Queen Charlotte’s Wood to Tarporley on a very miserable and muddy Sunday afternoon.
The Beaver’s visited the Cubs on the Saturday and made some shields and spent some time on the Climbing Wall. 2 new Beavers were invested into the colony and 3 of the Beavers swam upto the Cubs.
On Saturday evening, both Cubs and Scouts (not forgetting the Leaders) headed up to the campfire circle where they spent the evening performing sketches and singing campfire songs.
On Sunday morning, Steve and Ashley (2 of the Scout Leaders) received the shock of their lives when they were invested at the top of the Climbing Wall.
The weekend was enjoyed by all, and was a perfect first outing of the year!
